XmDrawingArea and focus

How can I track the FocusIn/FocusOut events on an XmDrawingArea? My application uses some of these for custom drawing/input, and the background should change whenever that particular widget has focus.

Adding the translations
DrawingAreaInput()
DrawingAreaInput()
appear to be ignored.

Ideas anyone?
