Anyone out there use Builder Xcessory as a hobby or as part of their job?

Thank you, Newdebugger

I started using it at work on SGI and HP, then satrted using it at home on my Linux boxes.

Now I use it all the time on everything I need a GUI for. I have tried glade, it does what it is supopsed to, but I find I need something a little more sophisticated for day to day work.

What are you using it for?

We use it for work. We are currently rewriting the interface to an existing application in X-Windows. It has been very helpful to us.

I used BX 3.5.1 for work in 1997.
Now, I`m using BX 4.0 for another job. Unfortunately, it`s still as unstable as ever!
But I`m our group`s "motif guy".
Do you post on here often?
Since there are so few active motif newsgroups, I want to find people who use motif and BX frequently so if one of us had problems, we could bug each other.
What version(s) have you worked with?

-Thx, Newdebugger

I worked with v3.5.1 in its RapidApp incarnation on an SGI. I was blown away, so I started bugging these guys about having a version for Linux. They already had one for internal use, so I got to look at it. At the moment I am using v5.0.8 with some of my own code gen tweaks to allow some extra capabilities. I am hoping they get accepted for the next version of BX which promises to be a new and improved (I take it for granted much more stable) piece of work.

At the moment, I am working on replicating the applications of the Agenda Vr3 (a linux PDA from www.agendacomputing.com) in Motif.

So far, it runs really sweetly, though it is bigger than FLTK. In my mind, Motif does more, and since they are just getting the ball rolling in the realm of cheap Linux PDAs, thing can only go up in terms of storage space. I figure skimping on software due to limited hardware is not the way to keep the programs competitive. My best surprise was that the 66MHz MIPS CPU on the Agenda is more than adequate for Motif.

Then again, wasn`t Motif developed when the average workstation was runnig at less than 66MHz?

The BX code built perfectly for the MIPS PDA using the gcc cross compiler on Linux.

All I had to do was transfer my binary to the PDA, and I was off and running.

The fun part was getting the Open Motif shared library built and finally running on the pocket sized Agenda.

Anyways, enough tooting of my own horn.

Good luck with your development,

I believe that ICS both sponsors a mailing list about BX and also offers evaluation versions (and free Linux versions). See http//www.ics.com and http//linux.ics.com for details.
