and dont say from the opengroup webpage, cause there is no info there.
I need to buy a license cause I need to port it to vxworks.
I cannot figure out wo I need to buy this license fomr, how much it costs etc.
anyone know?
As far as I can tell the licence agreement limits the use of Open Motif to platforms that are open source themselves.
- Is this true?
- Who controls the rights for other platforms?
Does anybody know? I don't see a response to the previous posting on this subject.
Hi, turns out I've found out some bits of info.
I needed a port of open motif 2.3, as well as licensing for my developement environment (solaris), and my target environemnt (vxworks).
ICS, the vendor of BXpro and other tools (i think they are also the hosts of this site?), supported me in this endeavour.
It was reasonable in cost and I have enjoyed the frank and personal service I receive from Mark Hatch and Paul Watters at ICS.
I am not sure the exact details, but what I understand is openMotif can be used on "closed" platforms like solaris and vxworks, as log as licensing is paid. I did frist try to communicate with the open group directly, and this was largely a dead end. It appears the openGroup really only want to deal with resellers.
hope that helps.
ps- yes I know there is an "open" solaris, but this is not what my company is using. The shipped motif we were using from Sun was 2.1.3 and had several bugs. Likewise for the 2.1.0 we had receved from the video card vendor for vxworks. Migrating to 2.3 and getting hands on support from ICS has been valuable to date.
