How to implement MOTIF in my CentOS 5.4 linux OS

Submitted by linux_newb on Thu, 01/21/2010 - 16:51. General Questions
Hi guys,

I have a requirement to implement motif in my version of centos linux 5.4. I don't have any idea on how to proceed with this. Is there a file that needs to be used? Online I was reading that motif or mwm is included with rhel and centos, but I have no idea of how to configure it to start up at boot up instead of KDE. I searched in the /etc/inittab file on my system and just become more lost. Is there anyone that can provide me any type of help?

What do you mean by implementing motif?
Installing the runtime and development libraries, or something else?
Just take the RPMs from your distribution or from this site, and install them.
This will enable you to run or compile motif based programs.

Using mwm as window manager is probably pointless, unless your needs are very specific, since it fails to provide basic services users expect today (dockable taskbar, system menu in taskbar).
