Is it possible to replace the Filter field on an File Selection Dialog. I would like to have a drop down list of the file types that my application knows.

You can affect the filtering behavior but not the widget that is part of the box. You could add a new widget, but it is expected to be a button. You may want to re-create the file selection box. Is it really worth it?
