Hi guys,
I just installed motif 2.1.30 on RH , however, when I do an xinit and then mwm , I just get an new window , but control is lost . I thought motif is an window manager , CDE-alike .
Am I doing something wrong or don`t I understand how to use Motif .
Please give me some advice ?
Thanks a lot

are you starting X with startx? With startx command i use an .xinitrc in the home directory and do something like (xsetroot is 1 line!)
xsetroot -cursor
/usr/X11R6/include/X11/bitmaps/left_ptr /usr/X11R6/include/X11/bitmaps/left_ptrmsk &
xv -root -quit /pathtomyfavoritewallpaper.jpg &
mwm
if Im using xdm or gdm(gnome login manager) or kdm(kde login manager) use the .xsession file
if you got xfce installed you can use this instead of xv to set the wallpaper
xfbd
and from withing the gui you can use xfbd -i to set it and have it remember the wallpaer for next time )
